The captain of a container ship that hit a oil tanker who transported fuel for the American army on Monday was a Russian citizen, the company that owns that ship said on Wednesday.
The man was arrested in northern England on Tuesday for suspicion of serious culpable murder for negligence. A crew member disappeared and presumed dead after the accident, who forced both crews to abandon the ship.
There was no immediate indication that the nationality of the captain had a role in the accident. The Russians represent about 10 percent of international maritime, according to the international shipping room. British legislators have declared that they have no evidence that suggest a foul.
