Houthi Missile blows near Tel Aviv airport

A ballistic missile launched by Yemen struck near the main terminal of Israelian international airport near Tel Aviv Sunday, after the military were unable to intercept the bullet apparently aimed at one of the most sensitive locations in the country.

The strike, conducted by the Houthi militia supported by Iran, caused a temporary flight suspension. There were no immediate reports of victims.

Israel's army said that several efforts have been made to intercept the missile and that an impact has been identified in the area of Ben Gurion airport. The military added that the episode was in the revision phase.

Magen David Adom's emergency ambulance service said he was dealing with four people who were mild or moderately injured by the explosion and by two other wounds while running for the refuge.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defined urgent advice from his security cabinet on Sunday and threatened retaliation.

After President Trump wrote a post on social media later on Sunday, warning that Iran would have been held responsible for Houthi's aggression, Netanyahu republished the declaration and added his one of his, saying that he agreed with Mr. Trump.

“The attacks of the Houthi emanano from Iran,” wrote Netanyahu. “Israel will respond to the Houthi attack against our main airport and, in a moment and in the place of our choice, to their masters of Iranian terror.”

Threats against Iran also arrived when the Trump administration is negotiating with Tehran for braking its nuclear program.

Israel Katz, the country's defense minister, had suggested immediately after the attack that would have been a tough answer.

“Anyone who damages us will be damaged by us seven times,” Katz said in a note.

The airport resumed operations about an hour after the strike, but some international airlines canceled arrivals and departures.

The Houthi militia began to shoot missiles in Israel more than a year ago in solidarity with Hamas, the group supported by Iran in the Gaza strip. He intensified his attacks since Israel concluded a ceasefire in Gaza in mid -March.

The missile attack on Sunday, which occurred at the beginning of the working week in Israel, was the fourth from the Houthi who have targeted Israel in the last 48 hours. The other three were intercepted.

The aerial defense system of Israel, which is able to hit the objectives at the top in the atmosphere or beyond the atmosphere, has been successful in contrasting many long -haul missilistic attacks. In October, the United States sent a Thaad advanced missile defense system to Israel to help reject the attacks by Iran and its allies.

But sliding through all defenses, the strike near the airport has been one of the major successes for the Houthi in recent months – and one of the most serious failures for Israel.

The military spokesman for Houthi, Yahya Saree, claimed the responsibility of targeting the airport and, in a video declaration, warned the international airlines to stay away from Ben Gurion for their safety.

Hamas praised the missile attack, which arrived hours after the military of Israel announced that he would have mobilized thousands of additional reserve soldiers to strengthen his campaign in Gaza.

More than 50,000 Palestinians were killed in the Israel military campaign against Hamas in Gaza, according to the Encyclical Health Officials, who do not distinguish between fighters and civilians. The war began after Hamas led an attack on Israel in October 2023, killing about 1,200 people and bringing about 250 others to Gaza as hostages.

Israel states that his military operations in Gaza have the purpose of destroying Hamas and pressure on the group to free dozens of prisoners still kept there. On Sunday Netanyahu refused to detail the military plans for Gaza, but again he promised to reach the “total victory” on Hamas.

In recent months, Israel had abstained from the return to Houthi in Yemen while the United States intensified attacks affected by the group. From the fall of 2023, the Houthi repeatedly attacked the commercial and naval ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in support, of the Palestinians under bombing in Gaza.

After Sunday's strike near the airport, the leaders of the opposition of Israel led the government to not be able to stop the missiles that triggered sirens across the country and have sent millions of civilians who rush into the shelters of the bombs, often in the middle of the night.

Benny Gantz, a former Israeli military leader and now leader of an opposition centrist party, urged the government of Netanyahu to “wake up” and take revenge against Iran. “This is not Yemen – this is Iran,” Gantz said in a declaration published on social media. “Iran is the one who shoots ballistic missiles in the state of Israel and must take responsibility.”

The videos and images published on Sunday media on Sunday showed a large pennacch of dark smoke that rises from an open area near terminal 3 to the airport, the main international terminal, while the sirens moaned and the people dealt with coverage.

Large fragments of missiles could be seen on the ground outside the entrance of the building and a road near the airport seemed to be covered with dirt and shop. Shooting on social media showed that the police gathered in a muddy field nearby by inspecting a large deep crater.

In a statement just before the attack, the Israeli airport authority said 422 flights had been scheduled to arrive or start on Sunday.
